PAUL & EMMA
After three years
training in Professional Catering and two years as Head Chef at The
Bugle Inn Twyford, I arrived at The Phoenix Inn in 1981 with my parents
Reg & Ann who were also Publicans formally trading in Southampton.
The Phoenix Inn was at this time a
Marstons owned Tenancy and one of the few that would be suitable
to take on the increasing food market at this time.
After
a great deal of success it was unfortunate that Mum became ill in 1984
and Dad had to retire and it was at this time I took the reins.
I have been here
ever since, except for a short time 1991 - 1993 when in there wisdom
Marstons reverted the pub to a managed house and I took the tenancy of
The Dolphin Inn Twyford, 100 yards down the road, only to return as at
tenant as trade bombed here and grew at The Dolphin.
I have known Emma
since she worked at The Phoenix at fourteen, and she also went to
Catering College only to return to take up the reins of Head Chef and
now Landlady,
So Hopefully with
that a potted history you will see that we run The Phoenix as a family
and take great delight in welcoming you to our 17th Centaury Coaching
Inn and we like to say that we run a traditional pub that does food and
not a Restraunt entertaining drinkers and dinners at all times.
In the winter months we have a large log fire burning in the
Lounge Bar and have recently renovated the log fire in the
Skittle Alley / Function Room
We have a Lounge Bar, large 35 bay car park, two patio areas,
Beer Garden, Skittle Alley and Petanque Arena,
We welcome Business, Family and Club enquiries for use of these
areas.
As you will see, from perusing this web site we offer a range of
Pub experiences and would welcome any contact if you have any
unanswered questions
